The Sniper Instructor Development Course prepares officers to instruct and manage their agency’s in-house sniper program. Participants will be required to complete and present several projects during the course to develop these skills. Topics include adult learning styles, developing sniper training exercises, precision rifle range management, sniper training program development, and administrative aspects of sniper programs. This course identifies aspects of NTOA Tactical Response & Operations Standard related to sniper operations. Officers who wish to attend this course must submit proof of prior successful completion of a basic law enforcement sniper course; and a letter from their agency certifying they have been assigned as an operational law enforcement sniper for a period of two years.
NOTE: Students will be required to develop and submit an annual training plan and annual training budget during the class as well as provide a training instruction/presentation demonstration. A laptop computer is required to complete student projects and conduct research.
