Sniper Training Development

This class will focus on how to develop relevant, sustainment training for law enforcement snipers. Students will be provided with the NTOA Sniper Section’s philosophy on training based on input from snipers from across the country. Using this information, they will learn a systematic process to identify training topics and needs to build a stronger sniper program.

Gar Haugo - Bio
Gar Haugo is a supervisor with Fort Collins, CO Police Services. He has been with the agency since 2003 and has been a SWAT sniper since 2005. He is currently the Sniper Team Leader, and he has been in that role for several years. Haugo has been an instructor with the NTOA since 2008 and currently serves as the Sniper Section Chair. He is an agency firearms instructor and armorer for both handgun and patrol rifle. He served as a fugitive and gang detective and as a patrol officer. Gar was a U.S Army Officer, serving as tank and mortar platoon leader at Fort Carson. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Factors Engineering and a minor in Systems Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Regis University.
