An engaging, presenter-led discussion examining the growing influence of Special Operations culture within modern law enforcement. This session challenges common assumptions, explores where practices align and where they diverge, and addresses the operational risks of misapplied tactics. Through interactive dialogue and real-world comparisons, attendees will gain a clearer understanding of mission context, training frameworks, and decision-making, creating awareness and filtering concepts and tactics.

Taylor Jolly joined the USMC in January of 2002. He started his military career as a 0351 infantry assault man/demolitionist. He deployed to combat in support of the Invasion of Iraq in 2003 and to Ramadi, Iraq, in 2004-2005. After his time in the USMC infantry, MSgt. Jolly spent the remainder of his career in a special missions unit based out of Ft. Bragg as a team member/operator. He retired as a team leader at SMU in January 2019. While on active duty in the SMU, he conducted tactical training for over a dozen SWAT teams, foreign military counterterrorism units, and other tier 1 organizations. Post-retirement, MSgt. Continued training for SWAT teams and other government organizations. He has over 2 decades of military combat and training experience. He currently works for a nonprofit conducting counter-child trafficking and emergency evacuations internationally. He has trained over 3000 different tactical team members all over the world.
