The Oklahoma City Police Department responded to a disturbance call in which a suspect was reportedly threatening his father-in-law and possibly holding his family captive. A patrol officer arrived on scene and made contact with the father-in-law and other family members. Officers were advised that the suspect was heavily armed and holding his wife and three children inside the residence. The suspect later fired rounds at officers, striking one officer in the hip. More than 80 officers from multiple agencies, including the Oklahoma City Tactical Unit, responded to the incident. The Tactical Unit assumed command and coordinated with two additional teams to resolve the situation through a sniper-initiated assault, resulting in the suspect's death.

Lt. Douglas Grady has been employed with the Oklahoma City Police Department for 20 years. He has held various positions within the department, including operations, special operations, special investigations, and the training division. He has worked as a street crimes officer, gang officer, patrol supervisor, tactical unit supervisor, custody and control instructor and field training officer. In his current assignment, he serves as a Training Division supervisor and Tactical Team supervisor.

Capt. Aaron Busch has been employed with the Oklahoma City Police Department for 17 years. He has served within the police department in various duties, including operations, investigations, and special operations. He has held assignments as a field training officer, firearms instructor, gang enforcement officer, first-line supervisor, investigator with the Office of Professional Standards, and supervisor for the Crimes Against Children Unit. He was promoted to captain in 2020 and has been a shift and watch commander. In his current assignment, he is privileged to work with several specialized units, including Violent Crime Investigations, the Criminal Intelligence Unit, and the Real Time Information Center. Captain Busch is also the Commander of the Tactical Unit. Captain Busch is a graduate of Mid-America Christian University's Bachelor of Science-Criminal Justice and Ethics program. He also graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Master of Science in Criminal Justice.
