Principles of Hostage Rescue

This course will cover the fundamentals of hostage rescue and enable attendees to build frameworks for decision-making during hostage rescue operations. Some of the topics covered in this course are:

  • Wayne Dubois - Bio
    Wayne is currently the Undersheriff at the Flathead County (MT) Sheriff's Office. He also serves as the SWAT commander of a regional SWAT team. Previously, Wayne was a police officer in Washington State from 1996 to 2019 and an active SWAT team member from 1998 to 2019. He was a team leader for his regional SWAT team from 2005 to 2019.

    DuBois is an instructor in numerous SWAT disciplines, instructing both his team and regionally for the Washington State Tactical Officers Association (WSTOA) from 2002 to 2017. During that time, he served as the President and as a lead instructor for the WSTOA. He was named SWAT Officer of the Year and Police Officer of the Year and was awarded the Medal of Valor. DuBois serves as a Western Region Director for the National Tactical Officers Association and instructs in the NTOA's Command Cadre. DuBois holds an M.A. in Executive Leadership from Liberty University.

    Before law enforcement, he served four years on active duty as a ground surveillance systems operator in the U.S. Army, including deployment to Southwest Asia for six months during Operation Desert Shield & Storm.
