Incident Debrief: Tracking and Ambush: Multiple Officer OIS

On January 16th, 2018, York County deputies responded to a domestic violence call that led to a K9 search for a suspect armed with an AK-47. The suspect ambushed the K9 tracking team and shot Sgt. Randy Clinton. This led to deploying the York County SWAT team and personnel from every agency in York County, The South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division, and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department (Over 100 officers). The suspect then ambushed a SWAT unit searching for him, murdering Detective Mike Doty and seriously wounding Officer Kyle Cummings and Sgt. Buddy Brown. The suspect was seriously wounded and taken into custody.

Buddy Brown - Bio
Sergeant Buddy Brown is a 22-year veteran of the York County Sheriff's Office in South Carolina. He has served as a patrol sergeant, narcotics investigator, property and financial crimes detective. Buddy served on the departmental SWAT team for over 20 years. He currently serves as his department's Ballistics Technician, SWAT Quartermaster, pistol and patrol rifle instructor, and Active Shooter instructor. Sgt. Brown is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Chuck Haynes - Bio
Chuck Haynes has served over 20 years in emergency services and currently as the Director of the York County, SC Office of Emergency Management where he oversees county's comprehensive emergency management program. Prior to his employment with York County, Mr. Haynes served as the Director of Emergency Management in Pickens County, SC, as a Regional Emergency Manager at the SC Emergency Management Division, Firefighter - Engineer at the City of Rock Hill Fire Department, Canine Search Specialist for SC Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue Team as well as other fire and EMS positions.
