Lieutenant Nicholas Alamshaw Lt. Nick Alamshaw has served with the Scottsdale Police Department in Arizona since 2007. He joined the SWAT team in 2010 and has been assigned as a Precision Rifle Observer, Entry Operator, and Officer in Charge. While on the team, he was an instructor in multiple disciplines, including Firearms, Less Lethal, Chemical Munitions, Physical Fitness, CQB, Pepperball, and Taser. In 2018, Lt. Alamshaw was promoted to Sergeant and became a team leader. In 2023, he was selected to be the Tactical Operations Section Lieutenant. As the Lieutenant for this section, he manages and leads the Technical Operations Unit (TOU) and Special Assignments Unit (SAU). Lt. Alamshaw is also the primary SWAT Commander. His responsibilities include the functional management of the department’s SWAT team involving the coordination of training, equipment, deployment, policies, use of force review, OSHA compliance, etc.; and supervision of the alternate SWAT Lieutenant, Crisis Negotiations, CBRN response capabilities, Tech Support, and Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS) Program. From 2018-2021, he served on the Arizona Tactical Officer’s Association Board of Directors and held positions as Treasurer and Secretary. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and is also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Alamshaw NTOA Letter - Commander Smith Alamshaw NTOA Letter - Sgt. Williamson Commander Fred Meyer Commander Fred Meyer started his career as a police officer with the Greeley Police Department in 1986 after attending the University of Northern Colorado. In 1989, he became a member of the SWAT Team, and was assigned to the Entry element. Fred was promoted to sergeant in 1995, and continued his association with the SWAT Team as an Entry element leader. In early 2018, he was promoted to Lieutenant, and he currently serves as the SWAT team commander. He has enjoyed several different assignments in the department, including the Patrol Tactical Unit, the Investigations Section, School Resource Officer Unit, the Traffic Enforcement Unit, and supervision over the arrest and control program. Fred has been an arrest and control instructor, active shooter instructor, SWAT course instructor, teaches at Aims Community College in the Law Enforcement Academy, and instructs for the National Tactical Officers Association.
